Disney world sucks

Just got back from WDW, and it's looking pretty run down lately

Spliffy:

I’ve never in my life considered not going back to WDW but this was an eye-opening experience for me. I feel like I spent more and got less for my money than ever before.

It will probably be a long time before I go back, since it seems that we need to pay to play now.

HI! I can totally relate! I was a die-hard/tribal WDW fan for about 30 years…

Then in 2022, I went to Universal Orlando. I got an annual pass for all 3 parks for $500 that has minimal block out dates.

The “value” tier hotels are $75/night and were built in the last 5 years. So new with great modern amenities…

I can buy myself, wife and daughter UOR APs and then take them to the resort for 6 - 7 day/nights for about $4,000 with all expenses covered (APs, Hotel, food, transportation)

Then going forward any time I want to pop down for a solo trip to UOR with my AP its about $1,000 total for 4 - 5 days…

I just planned a solo trip for 3 days to UOR that was under $200 using flight points and credit card promotions!

Universal has “magic”. I used to scream about how awful and “basic” UOR was even though I’d never been there!

Disney Vacation – Worst Thing Ever?

Imagine spending $2,000+ to spend a few days standing in line, walking until your feet fall off, and exhausting your kids until they whine, cry or collapse. Sound like fun? Definitely not. So why do parents do it?

Either there is something wrong with everyone, or I missed the memo as to why Disneyland and Disney World make for a great vacation. My first experience with a Disney theme park happened at the age of 16. It was enough to last over a decade. The withdrawal never hit me. But kids did. So of course Disneyland was suddenly a topic again.

The happiest place on earth? I think not. A Disney vacation literally sounds like the worst thing ever. Here are only a handful of the reasons.

How
Much Do Tickets Cost?!?

The sheer cost of a Disney vacation is the first thing to make me think twice about it. As a veteran &#

Dana Stanley:
If your Disney planning process currently looks like lying awake at night, staring at the ceiling thinking, well, what if I switched our Epcot day to Thursday? Or if you already made your dining reservations, but you keep canceling it and then rebooking it again. Or you keep writing things down because you feel like you’re missing something, like you’re doing dishes and you have to grab a piece of paper to write something down because you just can’t put your finger on what you’re forgetting.

You might be over planning. And today we’re gonna talk about it, what it really means to over plan, how to spot it early on, and what to do instead. So you can actually enjoy the trip you’re spending all this time and money on. Hello and welcome to the Laid Back Magic Way podcast. I’m your host, Dana Stanley.

Ruining Disney - Nearly Complete!

I've finally had enough. After being an annual Passholder for 9 years in a row and around 22 years, I'm done for now and will not renew. I'm good. Admittedly, I go a lot, but I just don't want to go back based on the experience I continue to notice is worse and worse.

This isn't one of those posts about Disney is so bad it can never recover, but its current quality state, value, and experience is not conducive to multiple visits anymore. I find after 2-3 days, I'm ready to go home now.

I don't hate Disney - I still love the parks, many attractions and the great cast that have tried to make it magical. However, the magic seems to slip away every time I go.

A few points I've noticed that are basically common at this point.

Genie+ is a disaster. I despise this process, service, the cost, etc. Everything about it sucks.

The prices are just stupid for the value.

Almost zero personalized service.

Abysmal ride maintenance.

Construction is too slow.

Too much IP.

EPCOT is basically a shambles.

Hollywood Studios is hopeless unless you want to pay to ride everything and you still can't.
