Black Diablos - the hell?

So, I can solo Nergigante now, finally...

But after trying to fight Black Diablos, I'm convinced that BD might as well have been the "elder dragon that feeds on elder dragons", because BD makes Nergigante look like a toddler. I mean, you can't even dodge his charge attack except with a double dodge roll, because while he's charging up his charge attack, he's homing on your location until the moment he initiates the charge.

He can also change direction while burrowing.

He can burrow past you, and stagger you in the process, before bursting out behind you and throw you into the air.

And finally, his reach is frickin' stupid. Diablos already gave me nightmares when I tried to reach him with my attacks, but BD has even longer reach (by means of thrashing about whenever he attacks), and him simply touching me sends me flying 10 meters away.

I remember the first time I beat him solo was when I used LBG and cheesed the living crap out of him. But honestly... Can BD be beaten without cheesing him or overpowering him with gear?

These black-shelled Diablos are actually female Diablos in heat. The color signals their aggressiveness and heightened hostility to other creature in their habitat.

Useful Info

Diablos are much more aggressive against intruders when in heat, and are known to attack enemies in retreat. Do not let your guard down even if you think you've established a safe distance from these monsters.
