Morgan’s Wonderland To Welcome Critically-Ill Children Helped by Give Kids the World


SAN ANTONIO – Thanks to its affiliation with the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), unique Morgan’s Wonderland theme park will welcome children with critical illnesses through the IAAPA World Passport for Kids Program, offered to children and families who have stayed at the Central Florida-based resort, Give Kids the World (GKTW) Village.

“Our mission is inclusion, bringing together those with and without special needs in a safe, colorful, non-judgmental, barrier-free environment for fun and a better understanding of one another,” said Ron Morander, chief operating officer of Morgan’s Wonderland, the world’s first theme park designed with special-needs individuals in mind, and nearby, ultra-accessible™ Morgan’s Inspiration Island splash park.  “So it’s altogether fitting for us to welcome GKTW families who are facing tremendous medical challenges.”

GKTW Village in Orlando, Fla., has hosted more than 170,000 families from all 50 states and 75 other countries since it was founded in 1986, Morander noted.  The 84-acre, non-profit resort features 166 fully-acces


Since 1995, IAAPA has brought the thrills and excitement of the amusement industry to Give Kids The World Village by fully embracing our mission and the families we serve.


As its charity of choice, the Village participates in the Association’s annual IAAPA Expo. As part of their charitable efforts, amusement park and attractions industry professionals golf, run, ride, and volunteer for Give Kids The World Village. IAAPA members even offer departing families a World Passport for Kids Program – a free, year-long pass to amusement parks across the country. Upon departure from the Village, each family receives a World Passport to continue to the joy found during their vacation.

IAAPA's members also helped design and construct the Castle of Miracles and the Amberville Train Station. They donated both wheelchair accessible rides – the Enchanted Carousel and Lori’s Magical Flight – and Marc’s DinoPutt – our interactive miniature golf course. Every effort made on behalf of IAAPA members have helped make Give Kids The World the most magical Village on earth.





 

Upon check-out, you received parting gifts from Give Kids The World. Now that you are home, you may need a little reminder about the contents of your package or other pieces of your Give Kids The World vacation.


GKTW Photos – All photos taken of your family during your stay will be uploaded to SmugMug. You will be sent an email with your account information and a link to access the photos.



Vacation Memories – If you borrowed an iPod Touch during your stay, you will receive a link to a Dropbox account so that you can access all of your Give Kids The World photos. If you have any questions regarding your photos, you may contact Give Kids The World at mediacenter@gktw.org.



Star Passport – If you saved your star experience for the end of your trip, your Star Passport was in your departure package or was mailed to your home. This passport will include a bar code, coordinates of where your star is located, and the name of your Wish Child



World Passport – The World Passport, provided through IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) provides you and your family the opportunity to visit any of the included theme parks/amusement parks for one
