A Wonderful World is a musical journey through the life of jazz icon Louis Armstrong, named after his beloved 1967 hit. Originally conceived in 2019, the musical faced production challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with its world premiere finally taking place in Miami in December 2021. Tony Award-winner James Monroe Iglehart, renowned for his role in Disney's Aladdin, will bring Louis Armstrong to life on stage. The musical, with a book by Aurin Squire and conceived by Christopher Renshaw and Andrew Delaplaine, is a vibrant celebration of Armstrong's music and life.

Casting is now complete for the upcoming Broadway production of
A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical
, which played New Orleans and Chicago in October 2023 and will play Studio 54 this fall.

As previously reported,
Aladdin
Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart, recently seen on Broadway in the revival of
Spamalot
, will again star as the late jazz legend. Previews will begin October 16 at Studio 54 prior to an official opening November 11. James T. Lane (
Chicago

A Chorus Line
), the production just announced, will play Armstrong at certain performances.

Playing the roles of Armstrong’s four wives, who each had a unique impact upon his life, will be Darlesia Cearcy (

) as Lucille Wilson, Dionne Figgins (

) as Daisy Parker, Kim Exum (
The Book of Mormon
) as Alpha Smith, and Jennie Harney-Fleming (

The producers of

, have announced complete casting ahead of the Broadway run, which is set to begin preview performances at Studio 54 on October 16 ahead of an official opening night November 11.

As previously announced, James Monroe Iglehart will lead the cast as Armstrong.
