It’s no secret, ranch classes are continuing to grow in interest by exhibitors in the horse show world. The number of exhibitors in the ranch classes continue to increase at the Pinto World Championship and the Color Breed Congress.

A seven-time PtHA World Champion Ranch Horse trainer and exhibitor, Christopher Dennis, has had a lot of success over recent years and continues to build his training program.

“I grew up showing Appaloosa horses, my family bred and raised Appaloosas,” said Christopher Dennis, owner of Dennis Ranch Performance Horses and 2023 PtHA Hall of Fame Professional Horsemen inductee. “Me and my sister showed as youth riders and then once I was out of the youth division I moved over to rodeo and team roping.”

In 2019 Dennis became a member of PtHA and started getting more involved in the show horse world, specifically in the ranch classes.

“We started getting involved when Appaloosas were welcomed into the solid division at PtHA,” Dennis said. He competes in all ranch disciplines, but his main three are Ranching Riding, Trail and Rail, Dennis said. “In preparing for Ranch Riding and Rail, I focus on letting my horse

Alliances

AQHA partners with associations, national or international in scope, which predominately feature American Quarter Horses in their competitions. The following associations have fair rules and judging procedures that are widely recognized and accepted throughout the world and, where applicable, are substantially similar to AQHA's rules and regulations. Many of these associations have the ability to provide AQHA with points and/or money earnings on American Quarter Horses competing in their events.

American Roan Horse Association

Founded in 2008, the American Roan Horse Association’s mission is to record and preserve the pedigrees of roan horses.  Provide beneficial services for members that will enhance and encourage ARHA ownership and participation.  ARHA develops programs and incentives beneficial to roan horse owners, while generating growth of the ARHA membership and registration via marketing, promotion, advertising, and publicity of roan horses.  ARHA ensures the welfare of roan horses so they are treated humanely, with dignity, respect and compassion, at all times.

From WCHA:

Something NEW, something UNIQUE……….

The Rising Star Futurity

This futurity will be a subsidiary of the very successful WCHA Breeder’s Championship Futurity Program and will be held within the Halter Million format in Fort Worth, Texas the last week of September. What’s unique about the Rising Star Program is that it’s structured to showcase offspring sired by stallions who have NOT YET sired a World Champion halter horse within AQHA, APHA or ApHC. “For the past few years we’ve had over 80 stallions enrolled in our Breeder’s Championship Futurity” states Futurity Manager/Executive Director Don Falcon. “Of these 80+ stallions, I estimate at least 50 have never sired a world champion yet, for a variety of reasons. Their stallion might be young and just starting to breed mares, it could be a stallion whose owners don’t stand him to the public or aren’t set up to promote or breed a large number of mares, etc. All of our halter stallions are bred “in the purple”, most have had very successful show careers but now need an opportunity where each stallion’s offspring can have
